My
self-portrait is formed basically by two images. In both of them I am
performing a kick or a move from my favorite fight/dance called capoeira. I am
bear foot and without my shirt, because for me, being in a more “naked” state
represents peace of mind, simplicity and shows connection with earth, which is
my source of energy.
In the background image the sea can be seen and I am
facing it, trying to say that the only way to learn new things is to face what
is unknown and go for it. But the other image shows another side of me because
I am looking to what I already learned and making sure to use the knowledge as
good as possible.
The kicks that I am performing represents how I find
solutions in my life. I observe, wait, and than with a solid base (my hands
strongly positioned in the floor) I lift all my weigh, go to the root of the
problem and solve it. I try to “move all the rocks in my way” without causing
any harm to anyone, and trying to help others in my way.
To make this portrait I thought in what I like to do,
where I love to be and how I can connect this in a beautiful way. The result
was the mixture of capoeira and sights like the beach. I asked a friend of mine
that loves photography to take pictures of my and I put them together in
Photoshop. When I processed my image in the dark room the result was not the
expected and I preferred the non-processed image.
